Ciudad del Carmen is the head of the municipality of Carmen, Campeche. It is located southwest of the Yucatan peninsula, in the west part of the Isla del Carmen, which is located between the Gulf of Mexico and Laguna de Terminos. It has a port area located at the entrance of Laguna de Términos, between the estuary of La Caleta and the Gulf of Mexico. The port consists of an access channel and three docks, around which there are 17 berths.
